Potty Training Tips:

I often get emails from people looking for potty training tips. Or someone on the playground finds out I’m the Potty Training Pixie Dust Throwing Good Witch From Outer Space (this is trademarked, so don’t even try to steal it) and asks me for Tips.

The big thing about potty training tips is that this is where all the crap hits the fan. Let’s deconstruct what you need to illustrate.

Okay…maybe you think you know what you’re doing and maybe it’s going okay but you feel the need to ask anyway. Then you read something and you reconfigure your whole approach. Well guess what? If you switch your approach mid-stream…you’re going to confuse your child and really mess things up.

Or maybe you’re like most of our culture and want the soundbite. This is very similar to people who ask me, “What’s the trick?” ARGH!!! Check out The Trick (hint: there isn’t one). In a short amount of time, we’ve gotten used to instant gratification. We used to wait weeks for a letter from a friend and now we get pissed if they don’t respond to an email in 2 hours. We want the hear one or two things that’s going to get the job done.

Potty training isn’t rocket science. But it is a process. Just be clear about what you’re asking for when you starting trolling around the internet looking for potty training tips. A lot of the tips are from diaper companies. Yeah.
If you have a specific problem, check out my blog ( seriously, a whole blog on potty training). However, if you don’t know what you are doing or how to begin, choose a path or method and just do it. Stop asking around. It’s only going to confuse you and your child.
