Frequently Asked Questions
Q: My child is past the "window of opportunity" or My child is over 30 months. Will your book work for me?
A: Yup. Chances are, if you're child is over 30 months, you've attempted potty training in some form or another and it's not going well or quickly enough.
The book shows you how to reset your child. The Reset is plan of action to set you and your child up for a "do-over". More importantly, it gives you an understanding of what might have gone wrong the first time around.
You also get access to the Forum. You can post struggles, problems and successes there. I moderate and answer your questions personally.
Q: Can I join the forum without buying the book?
A: Nope. They are a package deal. The reasoning behind this is I only want to help people who are interested in my help. I don't want to argue with people who say, believe rewards are the only way to potty train. The only way will you benefit from the forum is if you get to know me and my style and my philsophy on potty training. The bonus of this is that you get both, plus me personally, for way less than a consultation. I searched and searched and this was the best way to go for all of us, both in cost and time.
Q: My child is (any age over 4). We've tried everything and still can't get her potty trained. Can you help?
A: The book itself probably won't help you. The Forum probably will. See the answer above. The number one thing I can share with you here is that if your child is over 4 and is not Special Needs, you need to dig in your heels and throw away diapers. Now.
Q: I'm interested in potty training my one year old. Everyone thinks I'm crazy. Am I?
A: NO! Good for you!!! This is entirely POSSIBLE. Potty training a child under 16 months is not only do-able but
what most of the planet does. However, this process is slightly different than mine. It's called Elimination
Communication (EC), Natural Hygiene, or Infant Hygiene. I have a guest blog post about EC if you want to check it
out. If you Google it, you'll pull up lots of great information. Again though, I'm not your girl in this case. Good luck and f**k everyone who thinks you're crazy.
If you want to check out a really great site about Elimination Communication, I suggest ECSimplified.
Q: We are just beginning to think about potty training. Do we really need a book about this or can't we do it on our own?
A: Absolutely, you can do it on your own! For a multitude of reasons, potty training has become a big ordeal. I'm here to tell the world it's not and to help parents who need help. Give it a go...of course! Remember: potty training should happen between 20-30 months and should take no longer than a week. If neither of those are true for you once you begin, I highly suggest buying the book. I'm not here to convince you to buy my book. I'm here to help if you think you need help.
Q: I have twins. Do you address twins/multiples?
A: The process for potty training is the same regardless if you have twins or triplets or more (yikes!). The only difference with twins is you will need an extra set of hands the first day or two. We have moms of twins on the forum so you also get the benefit of their knowledge should you need it.
Q: I have a special needs child. Can you help me?
A: I know many parents who have used my book to potty train their special needs child.
However, we all know that your child has his own quirks and idiosyncrasies. Generally speaking, most kids won't get an official diagnosis until they are around 3.5 to 4 years old.
This is way past the window of opportunity for effortless potty training.
In my experience, when your child IS in the window of 20-30 months, most parents suspect something is "not right".
Usually, this is due to a speech delay and/or gross motor skill delay.
Understandably, parents are advised to "pick your battle".
This is completely up to you.
I do know that the longer you delay potty training, the harder it gets. You must realize that your child's particular diagnosis will be a huge part in his potty training. Obviously, if your child has Oppositional Defiance Disorder, your child most likely will be defiant about the transition from diapers to potty. Kids with Sensory Integration Disorder will have issues with the feel of the potty chair and/or pooping. Children with Autism will run the gamut, depending on the severity of their diagnosis.
If you are here and your child is older than 3, my book may be helpful to you
but you will want to approach potty training in conjunction with your Occupational Therapist or other specialist
you may be working with.
Q: Do you gaurantee my kid will be potty trained in 3 days?
A. No. I have no idea what you will do with the information I've presented. And let's be honest. Toddlers are known little weirdos. What I can gaurantee is I will help through the process until your child is potty trained. It's why I started the Forum. I know this book has worked seamlessly for thousands of parents. And I know some parents, for whatever reason, need help. I've got you covered on both fronts.
Q: What makes you such an expert?
A: Go read my bio. I call myself a potty trainer. Expert? Eh. By sheer virtue of helping thousands of parents, I've probably dealt with your situation or something similar. Does that make me an expert? Yeah, maybe. I'm more of good witch I think.
Q:Why is your book so expensive?
A: It works. I have had hundreds of parents tell me they tried one or more other potty training books and they didn't work. support forum.
Q: My 3 year old keeps crapping his pants. Can you help me?
Or any other of the hundreds of one-liners I get via email.
A: Yeah. I can help you. I am a potty trainer. I wrote a potty training book. I make my living as a potty trainer. The day I win the lotto, I will sit here dispensing free advice on potty training. Until then, I will help you when you
buy the book and join the Forum. And when you do join the Forum, I'll be needing a lot more information than just "my kid craps his pants". Just sayin'.
